Qimonda/Infineon

Qimonda/Infineon is a case in point: several thousand workers distributed among affiliates in at least 3-4 countries producing computer memory chips and other electronic stuff. In Richmond, Virginia, USA, they just closed down and fired their almost 2 thousand workers, and in Vila do Conde, Portugal, another 2 thousand are ready to go. Trouble is also piling up in the home country too, namely in Dresden, Germany.
What went wrong? Was it the product/market or the own strategy to blame? Can and should it be fixed? At what cost for the taxpayer and the shareholders? How much taxpayer's money has already been waisted? How could it be justified?
A multinational team is being set up in order to tackle this multinational problem. Team members should be close to the trouble spots and have access to inside confidential or at least detailed information. They should possess the necessary skills to analyse the case under a multidisciplinary perspective: strategy, product/market, competition, corporate/government relations, engineering and eventually others.
Please apply to join us if you fit some of these characteristics.
For now this is a pro bono activity, but who knows where it leads us...We will keep you posted at least for the next couple of months.
