Nothing new.. Only the thing that everybody knows, but a few only talk about. Bussiness is what it is.. Protection paid with protection, a win-win strategy for both Microsoft and hardware producers that follow specifications, huge market power of Microsoft, and who loses are those who need a laptop, and can't get away from it, that are the consumers. A non tariff barrier to entrants and a way for kicking out of the market small hardware enterprises. The adantage of the market being not a perfect monopoly, but almost, only with apple making some competition, but not with lower prices, because there is enough demand to satisfy both without a price competing strategy. Maybe one day an Asian company comes and compete with Microsoft, but not yet. There is still a long way to go.
